Lalvin EC1118, Saccharomyces cerevisiae (ex Bayanus)
Commonly referred to as Champagne yeast, this is an all purpose yeast strain suitable for both red and white wines. High alcohol tolerant and very temperature tolerant. A good choice for the new winemaker, cider maker, ginger beer and mead maker.
Packets are an average of 6gms of yeast, (it is not bulked up with cheap nutrients and less yeast).
Use the entire packet per batch of wine/must (eg 5-25 litres). Do not split packs between different batches.
Bulk 100gm packet is sold vacuum sealed, this is suitable for the larger scaled wine maker that will use it up all up in their large batches eg 250 litres. It is NOT recommended for the small scaled wine maker that only needs 6gms at a time for 5-25 Litre batches. The BBE date on the yeast is for unopened pack not how long you can spoon it out for in small batches.
